RACE TO ETERNITY

 Hebrews 12:1

 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

In a race, no one wants to be last. Everyone strives to be the first to finish it. Even when they all know that one person has to emerge as a winner, they all try their best with hard work and each person knows will win. 
Anyway, our race in salvation is not a win lose. We all are meant to win. But then if we all must win, who are we fighting against. Then we should say that the Battle is between two personalities; the deeds of darkness and the deeds of light. 

There is one side that is to win and there is one side that is to lose. The scripture tell us how though outwardly we may be wasting away but inwardly we are increasing day after day. There is something to lose in flesh in order to gain in the spirit . The race to eternity is one where you make sure your fleshly dark-like desires lose and your inner good character wins. 

But the question is , how do we win the battle.? In the race, as they all strive to win, they all have one thing in common. They all fix their eyes in front and never like to be distracted by anything. Even the clothing that they wear are to be fitting and not inconveniencing at any one point. The way has to be clear. Perseverance is key to even the losers in the race...even when they know they are many meters away from the first runner, they still press on.

Fixing our eyes onto Christ who is the finisher of our faith is one thing that will enable us to win the battle. You have to persevere in the pains of the race. You need to call onto Christ to perfect and make straight your faith. You need to walk in paths that are blameless. All the inconveniences should be removed. The sin that entangles our feet in the race should be removed. If you could only make a list of the sins that entangle you , and remove one after the other, you will be a victim to victory. 
The race to eternity needs you to put in a little more effort. Put in more love, more tactic. You need to make the race better each day. And one thing to hold at the back is of your mind is that if Christ is for you, you, we shall win.
