Matthew 27:3

When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders.

     In the beginning of the matter, it seemed as though all kinds of bliss await the one who hands over Jesus and have him executed. The wanted was really wanted. Jesus was looked for like a needle among hay. The disciples knew that fact very well. And the people that wanted Jesus for execution were not just ordinary people. These were high priests and governors. They were officials in the government. That meant that whatever the betrayer would ask for wouldn't be that much to handle.

The greedy snake in green grass saw his life about to turn around for "good". He knew that betraying Jesus and winning cash was an ultimate goal for him. He bargained with the official "snakes"... the so called officers. "What would I receive if I hand over Jesus to you." He asked. "30 silver coins." They replied.
'That was good enough. Just a simple job and 30 coins are within my reach.' He mused

He waited for an opportunity and he finally handed over Jesus. 

Imbecile. He thought he was wise. His actions were nothing but a scorching thorn in his shoe. Him being with Jesus was enough more than 30 coins. But even having walked with Jesus for so many years didn't help him learn the deep spiritual matters. This kind of soul shows emptiness that can momentarily be Pacified with demonic agenda. 
This shows that even where truth and love abounds, there are "box souls" thriving. These ones never listen and understand the word deeply. They don't merge with what God presents for teaching and learning.

Even where we move , such judases exist. We have many friends but not all of them are merged and wholesomely moving with you. Some never want to know what it is that you can present. All they want to know is what it is that they can benefit from you. We may never avoid these souls all our lives. Because even when Jesus had a Judas amoung his chosen, we shall have them amoung our chosen. Even if they may not betray so as to have us executed, they do ill behind the scenes.

It is easier to move in a group than to move alone. Standing for the right is harder nowadays than it was those days. Not because the governments have become more ruthless than they were those days, but because powerful governments of social influence have arisen than they were those days.
