THE NIGHT BEFORE DOOM
THE NIGHT BEFORE DOOM
Matthew 26:38-39
Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

When the point is nearing, it calls for excessive nerves. It calls for ones that have been there, yet to their beam this time. You have been fearing about your test, the initial fear may be manageable, but the fear that comes when realty is near are overwhelming. It's like being told you have an interview next week. That may not call for a lot at the moment. But the night before the matter will keep butterflies rolling through your belly all the night.
Do you know what the body demands at that time, "run".
The mind will energize your body excessively as though preparing you to run from the scary scene. Even this is what happened with Jesus. He had fear of the upcoming events. But this fear rose overwhelmingly. And as a human being, the brain was given in signals of "run". The body was scared of the scene and wanted to be safe.
But the body is week and the spirit is willing.
Knowing clearly the body's order, he embarked on the move to overcome the temporary set backs. Even though he prayed for the cup to be taken away from him, he didn't let fears drive the spirit of giving up. He drove into prayer.
He also called upon his disciples to drive the wheel with him, but they couldn't. He rode it the night before.
How do you respond to inner set backs. Do you respond by heeding to the voice "run". Do you respond by giving up. We don't have to wait for trouble to come now before we give into serious prayer. We need to do it a night before. We need to connect to God now so that we may not fall into temptations. We need to keep awake and watch.
GOD BLESS YOU
