NOVELTY

SON OF THE YEAR
                   NOVELTY

Isaiah 43:18
“Forget the former things;  do not dwell on the past.
--------------------------------------------
This is like the owner of a house. He bought an expensive cup with lots of his money. He loved the cup so much. But it was ordinary because even the neighbours had a number of them. He used to drink every drink using his cup. But the cup got worn out after several years. He used it for 15 years. The cup got broken at the edge where he would drink from. It really got worn out and he needed to buy another. But he was conservative. He still used the broken cup in it's broken state. He gambled using it and it would simply give him hard time using it but he couldn't let go. He had reasons as to why he needed to use the cup. "This is an original cup. It took me so much to purchase it. Before I even bought it, it was used by someone else for a long time. I bought second hand. I can't let such an original piece. It is still functional." The man said.

He had so many reasons to hold onto it.
This is how most of us are.
The human body takes 11 months to be a new body. The cells that you had 11 months ago are washed out and tissues have been replaced with newer elements though same body. So you become new every 11 months and are different.
The past and old things have transpired. Old things have grown old and need rest. You too need new things, but we have a hundred reasons to hold onto the old things. We feel new things will cheat the old ones and that a certain identity may be lost.
It is a feeling of having so many emotions to protect rather than renewing. It is trying to protect the vulnerable emotions rather than gain better ones.

There are hundred reasons to still think of the bad past that has happened yet there are a thousand reasons to think of the new future at hand.
It is easy to hold onto past selves. But the renewal of the mind that the bible talks about happens with letting go of the past. Let go of the old way of thinking and try thinking differently. Try letting go of old ways of talking and talk different. Try letting go of old manners and try new manners. Let go of an old weakness and renew a habit. Let go of old and renew.

Even though you think you would be losing something, still understand how much you are gaining. You will be gaining a self that you long for and one that you desire.
The old cup may have costed you a lot to purchase, but it is broken, it is torn and worn out. Get the new cup that the good lord has made ready for you. You will still understand how good it is.

                         GOD BLESS YOU
