       THE PATTERN

 Romans 12:2

 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

     There is Human nature that makes our minds mimic what others are doing. And that when you are surrounded by happy people, you too start to be happy. When you are surrounded by smokers, you too eventually start smoking. And if you are surrounded by thieves, you may have to steal. It is not by accident, it is nature that made us survive as community living in caves and wild lands. And as a community, doing what others are doing makes you one of them. And with a community, people running meant there is danger and so you run with them even without asking. That is just survival. 
But such a community spirit should be watched with care and attention . There is a virus in a community that starts with one individual and spreads to the rest. The individual may be influencial. There is a sin that is carried on by some group of individuals and spreads to the rest.
The rest are simply a community and they mimic what is on air. 

But is all mimicking good? Of course not. Even when there is compulsion, there should be a standard. The patterns of the world have grown like an HIV virus which only started with single individuals. Many of these patterns do not please God. Even when they are a trend in air, they should be cut off from replay in a Christian mind. The above scripture uses the word conform, and conforming is a community spirit. The solution given is that we should be renewed by the transformation of our minds.
It is a question of how do we transform our minds to ably not conform to the patterns that come with great gravity? The things that tune your heart into different frequency eventually transform the heart into a different thing. Read the word of God, fellowshiping sincerely, tilt your heart from the love of the patterns...and gives you new emotions that replace toxic emotions. 

These patterns are a "sweat" thing in their sense. The devil doesn't tempt you with what you hate. Eve in the garden was not tempted with what she did not like. She was tempted by the sweat fruit she liked . The fruit that appeared good for food and sweat for the soul. So these sins are "sweat" in their senses, but they're evil to your soul...they are rejected by God. The way to overcome these is mind transformation. Reinterpretation of the patterns within your very heart makes new understanding of what you may come across. You may not dodge to interact with such patterns but you can change how you interpret them. The good news is that when God is on your side, nothing will shake and trample over you.
